BRIAN HERMAN, PH.D., CEO/PRESIDENT

At Herman Neuhauser Academic Consulting, Dr. Brian Herman brings unparalleled administrative expertise from his tenures as vice president for research at the University of Texas Health and the University of Minnesota. He served as Chancellor’s Health Fellow for Collaboration for the UT System (2011-2012), where he focused on strategic investments to support collaborative infrastructure, culture, training and administrative oversight across the 15 campuses of the UT System. Renowned for forging impactful university-corporate-government partnerships and spearheading strategic investments, he has significantly contributed to economic development and life science innovation. His leadership in securing funding and implementing major programs like Minnesota’s Discovery, Research, and InnoVation Economy (MnDRIVE) showcases his exceptional ability to blend academic insight with practical, results-oriented strategies. A highly respected figure in academia, Dr. Herman’s research acumen spans groundbreaking work in osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Herman, a two-time NIH MERIT Award winner, has also had a long and successful research career at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC) and UT Health during which he discovered a mechanism that may underlie age related (senile) osteoporosis. He was granted a number of patents that were licensed to global imaging companies.  He is currently Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota.

CLAUDIA NEUHAUSER, PH.D., VICE PRESIDENT

Dr. Claudia Neuhauser‘s administrative journey is a cornerstone of our expertise. She served as Associate Vice Chancellor/Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer at the University of Houston since 2018, as interim Vice Chancellor/Vice President for Research from September 2022 to June 2024. She has been the Vice Chancellor/Vice President for Research at the University of Houston since July 2024. Her career includes impactful leadership positions at the University of Minnesota, such as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Director of the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology graduate program. Dr. Neuhauser’s strategic vision was instrumental in developing the University of Minnesota Informatics Institute and leading the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute, significantly enhancing research computing capabilities. Her collaborative work with health industry partners highlights her skill in fostering research partnerships and identifying strategic research opportunities. A recognized leader in her field, Dr. Neuhauser’s affiliations with prestigious institutions and her status as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Mathematical Society further exemplify her esteemed position in the academic and scientific communities.

TRACEY CURRAN-HERMAN

Within the ambit of Herman Neuhauser Academic Consulting, Ms. Tracey Curran-Herman aptly demonstrates her extensive administrative and leadership acumen. With a background as a graphic and freelance artist, and as the proprietor of Creative Graphics and Fine Art, her professional journey encompasses collaborations with educational institutions and entities of varying scales. Notable is her tenure as publisher and editor of Mood Magazine, complemented by her co-founding and stewardship of the Regional Artists Consortium in San Antonio, indicating her adept management of operations within diverse gallery settings. Actively engaged in San Antonio’s nonprofit landscape, she has held pivotal roles such as Vice Chair of the Cultural Arts Board and contributed significantly to multiple influential committees. Her dedication to community welfare and the arts is further manifested through her involvement in esteemed leadership initiatives like the United Way Masters Leadership Program and the Citizen’s Police Academy. Moreover, she is the esteemed author and illustrator of the Resilient Roscoe children’s series.
